Denver Public Schools and Boulder Valley Schools Authorizes FlyRoute Drone Operations

After an extensive seven year conversation and intensive interview process, FlyRoute is proud to announce Denver Public Schools (DPS) and Boulder Valley School District (BVSD) have authorized FlyRoute to provide drone services to their athletic programs. This move marks a significant innovation in how teams capture and utilize footage. With FlyRoute's aerial technology, teams can receive enhanced game and practice film, giving coaches better tools for analysis and players higher-quality footage for college recruiting tapes. Additionally, this partnership creates new pathways for students by offering internship and employment opportunities in drone operation, video editing, and data analysis, providing hands-on experience in a growing industry. This collaboration signals a shift towards integrating cutting-edge technology into high school sports and education.

FlyRoute is thrilled to announce the launch of its "Drone Photo of the Week" contest, spotlighting the incredible skills of our talented drone pilots. Each week, one outstanding aerial shot captured by a FlyRoute pilot will be featured across our social media platforms and website. Whether it's a breathtaking sports moment or a stunning landscape of the stadium environment, we want to showcase the creativity and expertise of our team. The winning photo will be selected based on originality, composition, and overall visual impact. Stay tuned to see the most impressive perspectives from the sky, as we celebrate the art of drone photography!

JP recently completed his Master’s in Software Engineering from the University of Advancing Technology in Tempe, AZ, where he developed innovative Alternative Drone Controls. JP's work included producing a Joystick Controller with voice recognition and a programmable Steering Wheel and Pedal controller, both designed for intuitive drone operation. He served as President of the Drone Club at UAT and regularly raced microdrones in first-person view (FPV). JP is passionate about the intersection of technology and aviation, and continues to push the boundaries of drone control systems and explore new applications for drones in various industries.

Q&A:

FlyRoute: As a veteran drone pilot, how can a new pilot quickly enhance their skills?

JP: "New pilots can rapidly improve by consistently practicing basic maneuvers, like zooming in and out on objects and tracking moving targets, to build muscle memory. Familiarizing yourself with the controls and developing a thorough pre-flight routine for checking equipment and procedures is crucial. This not only enhances piloting skills but also ensures safety and reliability during flights."

FlyRoute: Where do you foresee the future of drones in athletics evolving in the next 2-3 years?

JP: "In the future, I expect drones in athletics to benefit from advances in propeller and battery technology. Drones will likely become quieter, allowing for less intrusive operation during events, and flight times will increase as batteries technology becomes better and drones become lighter and more efficient. These improvements will enhance the viewer experience and expand the use of drones for dynamic event coverage."

FlyRoute: With your drone education background, where do you believe opportunities exist for someone looking to instruct the next generation of drone pilots?

JP: "Opportunities for drone education are expanding in areas such as mapping, artificial intelligence, and autonomous or semi-autonomous flight systems. As drones continue to integrate into various industries, vertical markets will open up for skilled pilots with expertise in these areas. Instructors who can teach advanced piloting techniques, programming, and the practical applications of drones in fields like agriculture, construction, law enforcement and logistics will be highly sought after."
